Calling All Peeps!

I have to free up some space in my garden for the co-op plants that are coming soon. I'm going to have an open house of sorts so that friends can drop by and help dig up the unwanted plants and take them to your new home. I won't be charging for the plants. They will include hostas, both named and unnamed, bear's breeches, Southern Shield ferns, Sensitive ferns, strawberry begonias, hardy geraniums, etc.

The plants are all great plants - I just need the room. I would like to have the open house next Saturday, June 3. Would anybody like to come? Email me for directions if you need to.

I wasn't sure if you got my email over the weekend. My office email is acting up. I am definitely interested in some of your plants, especially the bear's breeches. Please email me directions.

    Thanks.

Please send us directions. We ALWAYS enjoy not only new plants, but the opportunity to see what someone else DID with them!!

I will email directions. I had to wait to see if the most direct route will have a street closing. It will. The other way is just a minute further away, but has a couple of extra turns. It's still easy.

Carmen, I would have enjoyed coming by and helping you. I don't know that I would've taken anything but do enjoy your yard.

Today I had to drop my son off to Six Flags and passed by the West End exit and thought about westender, who lives off there, and got the greatest urge to take that exit and drop by to say hi. I miss the gardeners!

    Rose,
that would have been wonderful, but I think I'd better give you/everyone directions to our community garden, because that's where I'm most likely to be found nowadays! I seem to be almost living there now. Saturday we had a garden meeting so I missed Carmen's event - darn it!! but I got two new extensions to my garden plot built out Saturday afternoon and Sunday, and put some sprouted potatoes and sweet potatoes, as well as several ornamentals, in the ground. I'm harvesting now! Eating yellow squash for dinner just about every day, and finding out that 3 plants of hot banana peppers was way too many to plant to supply the one senior citizen who wanted them. I'm already having to go door to door to get rid of them! I can't wait for my beans to start producing.

Any time anyone wants to come by and visit our community garden, you are always welcome. It's at the corner of Oak & Hopkins Streets in the West End of Atlanta, just one block off Ralph David Abernathy (turn onto Hopkins from RDA across from Dunkin Donuts). Or you could call me - email me or I'm in the phone book - and I'll meet you there. My garden is the one at the top of the hill in the back, sort of fenced in, with vines growing all over the fences and beans climbing bamboo poles.

Well, I just may visit you up there very soon. My son, who's 15, just started working at Six Flags and I will be ferrying him there and back on weekends (he has to take 2 buses and a train during the week).

Maybe you could use some help weeding!

    Rose
