It's my understanding that Passiflora Incarnata is the only pasion flower hardy in zone 7. The others are annuals. I've grown Passiflora Incarnata and it does come back.

I have wild Passion Flower and it comes back every year. I'm pretty sure I'm in zone 7, they say 8, but I don't believe it.

I saw the red one at Publix and wanted to buy it but thought it would have to be a potted plant that was brought inside during the winter.

I grow Passiflora caerulea (Blue Passion Flower) which is not only hardy to zone 6 but, an evergreen here as well.

I have the Maypop (Passiflora incarnata) growing wild in my yard. It comes back every year: In veggie garden, lawn, under the azaleas and crape myrtles, etc. Spread by birds? squirrels? lawn mower?

The Maypop is very pretty in bloom, but not when it is 'eating' my crape myrtle, so I usually pull them out except for a few on a trellis.

On the Red one, I probably will treat it like an annual and plunk it in the ground with a trellis. I wonder if it roots cuttings easily? (then I could overwinter a smaller plant, and have it again next year)

I had a passiflora coccinea back several years ago and with my experience it was not hardy.

Scenter, you and I must have been posting at the same time this morning and I didn't see your question! I got my coccinea in a trade and I do remember that she said she'd rooted it and some others. I've never tried rooting one so not sure of the method but I'm sure it can be done.
