My parents live just east of Athens, and they have an established Lantana "Mrs. Huff" that gets huge every year. 5'X5' or more sounds about right for their's. It's quite a butterfly magnet, too.

I've never even had it survive the winter (even Mrs Huff) so they never get that big. The first one I had got to be about 2 feet high and 3 feet wide, but did not survive the winter. I live in NE Georgia, about 35 miles from Atlanta.

I have a Mrs. Huff and it has survived for me. The first one I had was trampled by a deer, so I bought another one and planted it right behind the trampled one. When the second one died back, I cut the branches down in the winter. The next spring, the second one didn't come back, but the first one that was trampled by the deer came back. This past winter, I left it alone (no cutting back), and it is starting coming back with new growth. I noticed that another neighbor has one and they just leave it be.
I read on a former post that they have hollow stems, and if cut, water can get down and freeze, resulting in killing the lantana.
Also, my sister-in-law has yellow ones (not sure of the name) that come back every year and I know that she does not cut them down.
This year, I'm expecting my lantana to get much bigger.

I have found that the "New Gold" variety (yellow one) will come back every year if you do not cut them back until the last chance of a freeze is past. We have them up at my kids' school and they are returning for their 4th or 5th year in a row now.

Miss Huff comes back every year for me, and it easily gets to be the 5x5 size noted above. i never cut it back until i see the new growth emerge in the spring - which happens a bit later than most perennials here. cuttings root very easily, too. butterlies and hummingbirds love her :) great plant!

Hi, thanks for the info. I'm not really sure what kind I have, the tag just says Lantana Camara (and that simply means "common lantana", or so I found out from my searches on it). It's multi colored and so if Miss Huff, so I don't know if they are the same thing or something different.

my neighbor had a Miss Huff that ate her mailbox every year until she started cutting it back in the fall. it died. but I think the mailman feels safer now.:)
