Worms (caterpillars...armyworms). They hide down inside during day, feed at night. Larva of moths. My biggest corn enemy here. Try Spinosad from your farm and garden center, it is organic.

Dont know if this is normal but there is like yellow particles inside the stalks.

I guess you need to buy it online. Do you know any stores that carry it? Sorry to be a bother but this is my first garden.

walmart, home depot and lowe's all have organic pesticides. I just had to spray mine last weekend. I tried a few other home made products that didn't work. This one is doing the trick. Good Luck!

I was at Lowes last night and didnt see any with spinosad in them, what brand name are you using Homesteaderwannabe.

I have figured it out (I think). I believe it is armyworms. I went out today and sprayed them with water and only saw one caterpiller and he was brown in color. I also sprayed with insecticide the other night. Thank you to everyone that helped me. I hope now to be able to continue to have corn someday soon.

Hi Minderella. I'm the one who told fladoc about spinosad. I buy it at Peterson's Nursery in Lakeland. I use a pump sprayer and give a shot to infected areas. It is always the growing point. If I see enough I do all of the corn plants. It will take several times as you see new damage. Spray the silk several times as it grows. You won't get them all. I get about 90% good ears. If you water from above or it rains do it again!!! Been freezing/eating corn for two weeks. YUM
