Shut the water completely off? I heard about this on the radio. It seems so radical. Why can't the powers-that-be behave like this about foreign oil...

It is completely unfair to sic the water-police on unsuspecting people when the word has not even had the chance to get out. Not everybody listens to the news and 11 Alive nonstop.

The thing that seems SO ridiculous about these full watering bans is that it is just a county here and there that has it. Why not take it out of the hands of county governments and let the state impose LIGHT watering restrictions on ALL counties. Then, if that doesn't conserve enough water, tighten up the restrictions on the WHOLE state. I just hate it when I hear that one county is having to give up watering their plants when maybe a neighboring county can use all they want. It just seems spotty and really unfair. I am in Gwinnett and I guess our turn for a full ban is coming. Grrrr!

The part that gets me is that we go from normal watering to all-out no water allowed bans. There are several steps in between that these counties can be taking. Apparently those in charge of determining "drought" status are not gardeners, or even weather-watchers. I can't complain for myself much, at least N. Fulton currently has limited watering (8pm-5am...yep, I'm out there at 10:00 at night trying to keep my veggies going!)

What about a soaker hose buried under pine straw?

Using a soaker hose is still considering watering outside. True they would not notice it by driving by.

They finally updated their website today that the ban is in effect. But apparently it really is up to individuals to check periodically to see if the ban has changed, otherwise you would not know that it had. You cannot plead ignorant.

I agree with jmzms, we should be going to different levels of bans, not just from 3 days a week anytime to NONE. And does anyone promote water conservation anymore? How about reminding people to take short showers, not wash cars, etc.?

I'm confused. When CCWSA's own webpage http://www.ccwsa.com/bans.asp doesn't reflect a water ban, nor does their own 24 hour phone number (24 Hour Automated Information: (678)493-2292) indicate a water ban... what have I missed?

If you will notice, the original message is dated 2006. That is when the ban was in effect.

Vickie, the entire state has been on an odd/even watering restriction for a long time. Since at least last summer, I think.

In Atlanta, we're allowed to water either on Saturday morning or Sunday morning before 10:00, depending on address. I am now up early on Sunday watering my huge oak.

I can't find any information, via the web, stating the total ban in Cherokee County. Could someone post a link to that information? Thanks....
