need tips on managing perennial hibiscus

A couple of my basic pink perennial hibiscus got a bit unruly this year. 6 feet tall to be exact and now the branches are falling all over the place. Can this be trimmed early on in the season similar to "pinching" dahlias to keep them stockier? If so, will the flowers be smaller like Dahlias would be after pinching?

ok, first of all i am no expert! But i had the same kind of problem. A couple of my bushes got to around 5 feet and started looking bad, so i cut them way back. I think with the heat and lack of water i did them a favor. They are growing back slowly not don't have any blooms yet, so i can't answer you queation about the size of the flowers. Hope this helps

Mine are just the opposite, instead of their normal 3 feet height, they are maybe a foot if that, BUT they are blooming their normal dinner plate size blooms. Looks kinda weird. Guess it's the lack of rain?
