I'll guess not. The leaves look too narrow, and too sparse.

It was much fuller, it dried out, almost died and is slowly coming back.

Can you suggest a better ID or direction to go in?

I'd post the picture on the Bamboo Forum, possibly with a closer view of stem and leaf.

This was my second stop, the bamboo forum was my first. It was suggested it could be a Pleioblastus--but I'm sure this plant does not get any taller than 12-18', and I could not find a Pleioblastus that was that small. Nore do any of the other low growing bamboos have these thin leaves and such a distinctive look.

I know in this picture it looks a little sad, but when it fills in it's really a beautiful plant.

One of the problems with descriptions is their variance. San Marcos Growers describes the leaves as follows:

"..bearing short broad "bamboo-like" leaves congested near the tips."

They also say it only grows to 12-18" tall.

Sorry I can't help. The pictures on the web make it look like a lovely grass, but it's a bit out of my zone.
