Thank you so much for posting this! I am an incurable dog lover and some of the things I have seen and read have just broke my heart. I really would be devastated if I were in the position of some of those people having to abandon their pets, since they won't let them bring animals to the emergency shelters. I feel better knowing that someone is trying to help the pets.

FYI the shelters are opening animal shelters right next door in many cases so that people can visit their pets. I think the tide is finally turning and people realize how important this is not just to the animals but to their human owners. I for one would be more devastated to lose my pets than my possesions and I am sure that this is relieving a lor of stress. There are a lot of organizations doing great things to help these pets. It seems the animal organizations at least have their act together. the intial problem for them at first was they were not being let in to the area, now they are getting pets out, but so many more still to save. CNN is covering a lot of these organizations today, like ASPCA, HSUS, Noah's Wish, and so many more. They will also need people to foster these animals while families get settled somewhere, that way people won't have to give up their pets due to not having a home for them.

Camp Woof in Decatur has done some wonderful things for rescued pets within the past week. One of the owners is from New Orleans and seems to have a heart of gold.
