I have been looking back over some data the last day or two, and have some interesting info to share about our dry spell.

At my house(remembering it will be different somewhat for everybody), in the last 46 days I have collected a meager 1.29" of rain. In the 46 days prior to that I had 21.49"!

For me 9" of that gaudy total fell in a three day stretch from Hurricane Dennis.

I decided to see just how this September compared to past Septembers in terms of heat and offer the following:

...Number of days with highs of 80F or warmer......

1997: 23

1998: 26

1999: 19

2000: 16

2001: 15

2002: 16

2003: 15

2004: 10

2005: 29

I was thinking that this year was "head and shoulders" above past years, so it was surprising to see there were any other years with fairly close numbers. I thought we might make it through the summer without any prolonged periods like this, but at least we had a lot of rain earlier to help counter the dryness of late.
