Corydalis cheilanthifolia(Fernleaf Corydalis) does extremely well for me. It will grow almost anywhere in the garden, sun, shade, moist, dry, in pots and in ground. It can become a nuisance if you care about things like that, as it seeds around profusely! Blooms in early Spring, like C. lutea and is evergreen here. Mine was started from a small container from a mail-order co many years ago, but if you can find fresh seed, I would recommend that avenue. Let me know if you can't find seed and I will save some in Spring for you or if you would prefer plants, I probably have a few around that I haven't weeded out.

Thank-you. I'd not seen this particular plant before, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. What fantastically ferny texture. I don't have a problem with plants that like to happily seed - when they look this good, and display the properties you mention.
I'm on the lookout for seed, and may ask you for some when it's fresh!

BTW, in addition to C. cheilanthifolia and C. lutea, I also grow Corydalis bulbosa(Synonym: C. solida), a pretty blue/purple flowered bulbous member. It is Spring blooming and then goes dormant until the following Spring and is very slow to increase in size. Have grown several other species and cultivars, but they were short lived, i.e., C. elata, flexuosa(Blue Panda, China Blue), ochroleuca, nobilis, flavula(a native annual with a very limited GA distribution) and an unknown blue-flowering species from the Himalaya's.
There are a number of native species, but most aren't available in the nursery trade, however, you may find a seed source if you want to try some of them.
