No.

"Holy Basil" is Ocimum sanctum which has tough, hairy leaves and a decidedly sharp taste. It is not normally used for culinary purposes. You probably won't like to eat it.

It is basically a ritual plant. It is grown around Hindu homes and temples in honor of the goddess Tulsi, who is represented by the plant (hence the reason Hindus refer to O. sanctum as "Tulsi"). See the link I've posted below. A "puja" is a rite.

It can be burned as incense.

It is somewhat distinct from other Basils, and is the most likely, in climates with a long enough and warm enough growing season, to naturalize.

Thai basil is culinary. It has tender leaves, and a typical Basil smell but with anise-like overtones.

Here is a link that might be useful: Tulsi Puja

The taste takes some getting used to I guess. It's a bit bitter but I like it!

Thanks! Will still grow 1 or 2 plants just to see what the smell/taste is like.
