I think your new kitchen looks absolutely beautiful! But one suggestion I'll make is to change the color of the walls. Nothing makes white cabinets look whiter than a contrast with cream colored walls. So if you are trying to tone down the stark white effect, you might try another wall color. Almost anything except cream could work with your color palette of white, dark, and stainless. Why don't you pull a color from your contertops for the walls? I can't see them very clearly in the picture, but it looks like they have some different gray shades in them? And let me make clear that it isn't that the cream walls look bad--they just emphasize the white more than you might want.
Here's an example (with cabinets and appliances) of how cream colors can make white look too white:

Add some color to your kitchen with colorful accessories, red comes to mind, and then I think the cabinets won't bother you so much.

Do you have the color strip the earth tone for the Living/Dining came from? If so, try to find a color on it that you like for the kitchen walls. Since you have the skylight for lots of natural light, go for the darker shade on that strip. If your earth tone was already the darkest shade on it, ask the paint store to custom mix it one or two shades darker.

I agree with previous posts that the off white paint serves to accentuate the fact that your cabinets are stark white. Either go with white walls to match the cabinets or select a color drawn from your granite. Take a look at this darling white kitchen...the red Roman shade and colorful accessories add character and cheer.

thanks those are all great ideas. Thinking changing a couple of the upper cabinets to glass. Should we do the corner one or the two on either side of the hood fan. And what type of glass would your recommend?

I think a backsplash with a pop of color would look awsome.

This is an interesting idea, because of the movement in the natural stone, it sort of steals the show and takes the focus off of the white cabinets same kitchen from a different angle, notice how dark the stone actually is around the sink very similar situation this sort of Mediterranean gold reflects off the white and since it is a darker color it creates shadows too finally the only color that out whites white is white! Before you think I am crazy look at how the reflection off the tile steals the show, consequently causing the cabinets to look duller in comparison.

I'm with Corina, a colored back splash would be awesome.

Love the tile elyns suggested. I would paint the walls a dark color from the tile---not the darkest, second one from the darkest. Nice kitchen...

Hi. Your kitchen is so nice! A great backsplash will go along way to warm thinks up. A nice blind or window treatment will make a huge difference as well. Have you considered a different paint color? I would before going thru the expense of changing out your cabinet doors. One other thing - we too have
a large skylight in our kitchen but when we reno'd our kitchen I had the inside of the skylight painted the same color as my walls so it wouldn't look so white. I love the result! I think you can see a little of the detail in the attached pic. Good luck!

Firstly your kitchen is great..all it needs is that contrasting color to make the cabinets pop. i would actually love to see a textured wallpaper on those walls...giving a bit more interest. i love something with chocolate brown and a bit of white and sparkle. Alternatively, you can go with soft blues as well..
