Cross pollination only affects seed; the original plants will not change. Since we usually eat the leaves of basil, it will have no effect from cross pollination.

However, basil is so pungent that there might be some flavor exchange if you serve them together.

I grow them in the garden next to each other. No problems!

I grow them together, and I noticed the seeds of thai basils when grown the next year turns to be a mix. It looks like sweet basils with bigger leaves unlike thai basils, but the aroma and tastes is licorise.
