I always direct sow them. Fenugreek (Methi) is a cool crop and is easy to grow in cool weather. I think it belong to alfalfa family but this one is annual.
I use the ground fenugreek seeds as a spice all the time. It is more flavorful than greens.

Yes seysonn, the ground spice is also great. They way I eat fenugreek greens is to chop the greens then stir fry it with some onions and tomatoes. Tastes great with wheat tortillas.

Can you sprout the seeds like you would mung beans? Can they grow inside in hot weather? A baking tray allows them to grow how tall? I have some in a pot, but I didn't realize they were a cool season crop. It's about to get hot here

Amy, they do sprout but I have never sprouted them myself so can't say for sure if it behaves like mung.

A "jumbo" baking tray - the kind you get at Costco, will let them grow about 6 inches or so. Its better to harvest them before they set flower.

Yes its a cool season crop but it really depends on your zone. In California, I can easily grow them thru summers in semi-shade or even sun (lots of watering in full sun though).
