Is it a Mother's Day gift? If it is, how nice!
Since it is a kit, there should be a growing guide on the package to help you with timing, etc.
And since it is a gift, why not plant all the seed types. You might enjoy all the herbs, not just a few.

Thank you gourdfriends. Yes it was a mother's day gift. I don't want to plant all seeds(cilantro, marjoram, and curly parsley) because I am already growing cilantro in a container, and I don't use the other two very much. So I only planted basil, chives, and thyme. I badly want that basil to sprout sooon. I am too impatient when it comes to waiting for the seeds to sprout. Any idea how long the basil would take? I guess it will be worth the wait.

No, I don't have a clue.....I guess it would depend on your soil temps and soil conditions. If you're really in a hurry, go to the nearest garden center and buy a healthy looking basil, plant it, and give it a little miracle grow.

A week or two for the basil to sprout. I got cold-treated basil seed to sprout in 4 days in peat in a plastic greenhouse atop my TV, so if you're REALLY impatient, you could throw the seeds in the vegetable crisper and head for the Wal*Reich garden section. ;)
