Brown basil leaves

Hello,

I bought some basil plants at the nursery. After a few days in the ground some of the leaves began to brown. Picture below.

We have had some heavy rains. Does this look like too much water?

Looks more like damage from heat or cold. I don't know when your last frost date is but I would suspect that it is too early in your zone 5 for basil. I know it is way too early in my zone - we have snow on the ground today. Not the first Mother's Day to have snow!

You may want to have a cloche over your basil until temps warm more.

That looks like what happened to my basil a couple of weeks ago after I transplanted them. We had a few days of heavy rain after I put them in the ground as well.

Not sure what it was, but they are fine now.
