how far away is this person? You could send a couple of cuttings, wrapped in a wet towel, in a puffed up ziplock baggie (for protection) they root easily, and that way it'd be easier than stressing the whole plant.

If rooted in a small pot, soak it well, and wrap just the pot and the base of the stem with plastic wrap, Place in a tall, narrow box to help hold the pot and plant in place inside. Ship overnight if possible. Quite expensive, but if its THAT important, it shousd work well. Be sure to anchow the pot inside the box so it doesn't move around
