Is it possible to use the root of pinecone Ginger in cooking. I'm assuming culinary ginger is, of course, superior. But I'm curious about pinecone ginger.

Does it have a bitter taste, or is the flavor just a bit weaker? I can't find anything that says the root is poisonous. Has anyone here tried to use it?
