Basil Rooting Side Benefit

So, my basil is flowering, and I know it's days are numbered, and I pick a nice stem, stick it in water, hoping to root it to extend the life of my basil plant. Oh my!! You know how basil leaves go black if you put them in the fridge immediately? In water, they are very perky and fresh!

Therefore, I shall always keep some stems rooting, and pick the leaves as I need them for recipes!!

Basil is the easiest to root, so this is a double reward. Leaves fresh for recipes, and a new rooted plant!!

Not bad!!

Suzi
