Transplanting sage

Hi all,

I need to tansplant my sage. It is about 1 year old, and about 2-3 foot high and the same around.

Is it possible to transplant in the fall, I need to move it from it's present location, at least by October. Would it be best to cut it down a bit (have not harvested at all) then give it a few weeks and then transplant?

Any ideas appreciated...

Your plan is probably ok, but I personally would probably do one of the two things you mention and leave the other for Spring.

Thanks FataMorgana, I took a small amount, then I'll just transplant and only take a bit for thanksgiving dishes.

t-bird - your chive question has disappeared from the board so I'll stick it on here. No, I don't think it's too late to plant chives, if by 'plant' you mean plant plants rather thans sow seeds. I think it IS probably too late for seed outdoors.

(This is one of my fussy little bugbears. The difference between 'sowing' and 'planting'.)

Weird about that thread? I was looking for it and really thought I posted! Thanks for the info and confirmation that I'm not losing it!!!!
