Some of the herbs in my garden have grown rather large and are looking a bit tired. Can I cut them back to encourage new growth in the spring? The ones I am specifically unsure of are the rosemary, sage and lavendar.

This photo was taken in early summer when everyone was happy and still a good size for the size of the bed. Now the above mentioned are too big.

Thanks for any advice.
