Spear Mint Harvesting

So whats the best way to harvest spearmint and mint plants with the least shock to the plant?
First time grower of this herb when they get old enough to harvest im curious like i said the best way to pick the leafs without giving the plant too much shock.

    Just cut off as much as you need. Mint will not mind in the least.

    Yup, just cut off a stem(s) and the plant will grow at least two more to replace it ( them).

    Judicious pinching and harvesting can improve the look and bushiness too. Mint is very robust ONCE established. With young plants take it easy. Allow them to get some size and strength so go very lightly with harvesting to start with. Once the plant matures, you certainly can take more and more often. You'll get the feel for what the plant can handle.
