Your photo is not near as dark as my Chicago Blackout, but could be because of the soil and sunlight difference. Mine has a more of a green throat than your shows also, but than different monitors show things differently too. But overall, that is right shape, the marking are more or less about right. My Chicago Blackout is very dark, roughly 30" scapes and abt 6 inch blooms, color is like dark black cherry.

Thanks for replying. Yeah, I'm kinda iffy on whether that is the right ID. The picture at Tinkers is much darker (probably like yours?) but then I googled it and there were several vendors with pictures that look closer to mine in color. I guess the only way to really know it to get CB from a trusted source & grow them out side by side.

Is yours planted in full sun?

I've noticed humidity can affect color on some varieties too. Is your area humid? We are arid.

Mine gets morning shade & late afternoon/evening shade. It has full sun through the middle of the day. I thought that might affect color, plus as you said, soil & temp differences too.

This was first year bloom on a double fan and we have perpetual drought so even with my supplemental watering I don't expect full height or flower size. Mine was 22 in tall and 4.5 in flower this year.

Here in Central IL we had a nice spring with plenty of rain and though the summer has been a bit cooler than usual we've gotten the usual humidity. Common to be in the 80 to 90%ish range. I have mine in morning sun (sunrise to about 11am). This is the first summer in a number of years I have had green grass all summer and have not had to water my beds and borders which are mixed annuals, perennials, shrubs and daylilies. I have a number of Marsh's daylilies and they do very well here even when it's hotter and drier. Enjoy your daylily :)
