Yes, that will do it. They're very easy to grow

Here, I started with nursery pieces of root. It does take a few years to spread a bit. I almost lost mine a few years ago, after accidentially hitting a few leaves with weed killer. I left it alone for 2 years and its returned a bit more. This year, it got a small amount or iron, and then went back down in leaf and crown production again. Needless to say, it doesn't like a lot of nutrients or attention. The store bought piece I saw was huge, like the size of my wrist. Mine never gets THAT big. In mid winter is when I harvest some of my roots. The roots can be most any size and it doesn't matter what you dig up, provided you leave some for future years. I peel it, and wash off any brown. Its then placed in a small blender with a little water and whizzed until its a course puree. It's placed in a small jar with a tiny dash of white vinegar. This helps to keep its white color. I feel that a winter harvest gives me more root size and taste. It also depends on if you can dig into the soil if its frozen. NEVER stick your nose in the blender jar when its processed. Doing so, can cause you to pass out from the very strong fumes!! My main crown was dug up a year ago, but I now have about a 6 foot wide area that has several new crowns and leaves. It will spread quite well, but never harvest all of it, unless you want to get rid of all of it.
