This happens to almost every batch of jars I buy. I use them and never have a bad seal.

I agree with eddie1025. Not a problem at all using them. Most of the ones I buy are slightly sealed as well.

I agree as well. The "sealing" is caused by changes in temperature and is not a true seal.

Just pop the lids off, check to make sure the sealing compound is in good shape and let them sit for awhile to rebound. They will be fine.

Thanks you all. I'll use them and see what happens. I seem to remember a time (aeons ago, when I was young) when the jars came with the lids reversed. I think that was a better idea.

I have bought unopened "vintage" boxes of jars where the lids and rings came packaged separately from the jars.

What I do with the new shrink-wrapped ones is to soak them in hot water after I wash them to get the grooves out - though now they say you don't have to simmer them before canning, I just skip that step with "replacement" lids I buy in the box, the ones that come on the new jars I feel have to be soaked.

When I purchase new jars, I nearly always have to pry the lids off--lots of noise when they separate. I figure it's my elevation. But, those lids still work fine for me, and I rarely have jars that don't seal BWB. I figure it's because they haven't been heat processed, just slight pressure or temp changes.
