Grape Juice using Splenda

I am getting ready to make up some grape juice and was wondering if anyone has any experience substituting Splenda for the sugar needed.

My mom's special grape juice receipe

1 cup of grapes in the jar, followed by 1 cup of sugar. Then put the jars in a warm oven for a few minutes, just until the grapes are ready to burst. Then fill the jars with hot water and process in canner.

The results are the best. Even though the Splenda bag says that it measures cup for cup like sugar, everything seems to sweet if I do it that way. I was going to experiment with just splenda and water until I got the right amount of sweetness for a quart jar.

Does anyone know of any reason the splenda might not work. I have seen other posts where people have used in their pickles, so it shouldn't be affected by the water bath canning. Thanks in advance for the advice.
