A vole took out about a dozen tulips before he finally succumbed to mouse poison. Had a great display of White Triumphator and Sorbet tulips and the cheapies I bought last fall at the end of the season from Lowe's did well too but had small flowers. Had a good display of nectarscordum siculum and right now allium christophii is coming into bloom and looks great. For the very first time had success with hoop petticoat daffs - what little charmers they are! And this was the year that narcissus alba plena, the old-fashioned, very fragrant,double white, gave a great flourish of flowers which just finished up (they are always very late but often don't manage to open any flowers).

My winners were from a bag of rock garden daffodils. What tiny charmers!

All my bulbs came up and did fine because I had no bulb chewers. I caught any varmints before they had a chance, plus I planted all new bulbs with chicken grit (crushed seashells) around them (thanks, oldroser for that tip).

Very tall (Dutch??) iris (from bulbs) are just blooming now...what a striking display with the roses!

This year I planted bulbs all over the place between perennials and along the path edges. It was a treat to see them in surprise places, esp. the tiny daffs.
