I love japanese bunching onions. You start them from seed then let them multiply and in subsequent years, you just divide them.They are a scallion. Garlic can go in now. Under a cover, lettuce, kale, and spinach are good.I liked celtuce as a fall crop-start in august. You cover greens with re-may fabric or seed in a cold frame. Bloomsdale longstanding spinach over wintered for me. Corn salad will sprout now and overwinter. Better in a cold frame.I seeded pearl onions in the fall before, had them overwinter. Novella leafless peas also worked great as a august sown fall crop. Chick weed is a great tasting wild edible that invariably shows up in every garden about this time-tastes like spinach. Garlic mustard is evergreen weed and a non native invasive that tastes like roquette. Roquette should sprout now too?
