Cathy I will only say you should hang your new feeder far enough from your garage that with wind blowing it around it won't hit the garage and get broken. I have all of my feeders hung by a little chain. I bought this at Wal-Mart (it is in the hardware section). How high or low you hang it just depends how high you want it to be. I would try to keep it high enough a cat couldn't get to the hummingbirds while they are feeding but low enough you don't get a crick in your neck looking at it.

You do need to be warned that after you see your first hummer you will become an addict. There is no know cure for this addiction. It makes senseable, mature people behave in the craziest way. Especially this time of year when the hummingbirds start their migration northward.

Until I see my first one this spring I will be homebound.

I also concur with everything mimidi wrote. You will become hopelessly addicted. I would just like to add one thing. Make sure it is in a spot where you can easily access it because you will need to take it down almost daily during the hotter months to clean it.
