reprocessing tomato sauce

I made some tomato sauce from the Small Batch Preserving book last weekend. I got some of the paper from the tomato paste can in the sauce. I hunted and hunted for that paper! Then, when I finally took the jars out of the BWB, there it was, sneering at me from inside one of the pint jars. I'm doing pickles tonight, can I open this jar, fish out the offending shred of paper, and then reseal while I process the pickles? Or should I freeze this batch instead. I am not good about using freezer stuff which is the reason I'd rather reprocess if I could. It's been a week in the sealed jar. I could also just put a piece of tape over that jar and write on it "Remove offending paper before using!" I'm just afraid the paper will disappear again if I move the jar too much.
