My experience with hummers when I lived in Indiana (near Lafayette) was that I saw young late summer -- but here in NE Ohio, we're already seeing them -- so I wonder if I just didn't see the first broods when I lived in IN... anyway, we've had increased activity and number of hummers here lately and I'd say it's definitely due to the new ones. We've seen some that look like juvies. If we can have the first brood here by the end of June I'd say you can, too, although I don't know for sure. If you have the Mumford and Keller large book, "Birds of Indiana," it would give you breeding details for hummers. In any event, enjoy!

Cheri----If you havent seen any hummers yet dont give up hope for if you have feeders out you may have had some just didnt see them. Also when the younguns start circulating is another chance and in august when they start to fatten up for their trip back south gives you another chance. If it is hot where you are change your feeders every other day at least, it may help.

thanks hummersteve- i won't get discouraged yet. i just started watching hummers a year ago and found them so interesting and my 18 month old loves the birds.
