ROFLMA! It's been realy hot hear this summer and I was out looking at plants today in the heat, that I don't need, cause I an't got any birds, and I have a drawer full of feeders ,and no birds. And did I metion no hummers.

That's a drag birdlegs hopefully the population will increase soon in your yard. mimidi I did the same thing I have an agastache that came back from last year but it doesn't have a tag and I was going to post a picture of it here it is to see if anybody knew what it was Well my window feeder broke so I went to waterloo gardens to replace the feeder (they were out) So what did I do I saw my mystery agastache now I know what it is and where I bought it and I bought another one plus a bunch of other stuff Here it is

So...just because I keep buying "hummer plants" even though I don't have any more room to plant them, when I go to a garden center or plant nursery, my eyes start scanning for anything red or tubular, when reading plant catalogs or any garden magazine, I only want to see photos of hummer "possibilities"...this means I'm..well..ILL?

Birdlegs I am so sorry you haven't seen a hummer. I can just see your opening the drawer and all of the feeders being there unused. I'm didn't really mean to laugh but you sounded so funny and aggrivated.

That does look like "Tutti Fruiti", which I have. I think as the flowers age, they change color slightly so you get a multicolor effect.

Standard I just knew I would find understanding folkes here.

I planted tomatoes and a few other veggies this year. My oldest asked me that since I was growing tomatoes was I going to start wearing straw hats and overalls like the lady on STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Hats, yes! Overalls? I haven't gone that far over the edge yet.

Some people might choose to distill that sugar and water down to something more efficacoius, a kind of homegrown antidepressent. Then unless there is a garden center within walking distance, you'd be forced to stay home, money in your pocket, wondering what to feed the pink elephants.

The sugar is a bargain, considering what you could spend on plants!

Yep, but at almost 16 bucks a 50 pound bag it does add up when you go through almost A-BAG-A-WEEK during the peek migration period!

I do have to tell ya'll that I just ordered a "ultra hummzinger". I know one thing, this heat and the rain showers need to let up so I can get outside. NEED TO GET AWAY FROM THIS COMPUTER.

Okay... Good to know. I have a bunch of subtropicals and tropicals and tenders that I bring in for winter so the agastache will join the (ever-growing) crowd to come in.

Has anyone tried Agastache 'Black Adder'? The catalog says it is a hummingbird MAGNET and hardy to zone 9. I like the way it looks in the book, but if it's just gonna take up valuable space, what's the point? Thanks, Linda

Sara, do you think you might have gotten a miss-labeled Blue Fortune. Because I've had this plant for quite of few years and have never had a seedling. I know several other gardens that have it also, and no seedlings.

Mimi - Let me know if you find something to shade out nut grass. Up here we call it nut sedge, but I bet it is the same thing. Locally, its very name is not considered exceptable in polite company. Even the liberal North-east has some limits.

It could be Agastache foeniculum giant blue hyssop or Agastache scrophulariifolia purple giant hyssop I got it Bowman's wildflower preserve. Sarah
