Blueberry Muffin

This was new late last year and I am amazed at the size. I bought many hosta at the end of last season as sales were going on. Many I wasn't necessarily familiar with. Turns out I really really like this one. Beautiful blue with nice shaped leaves.

That has been on my short list of ones to collect. I like it!

That's some big muffin! Must have used extra baking powder in the recipe! I like it a lot.

I got one as a bonus plant from Hallson's. Very interesting red speckles on the petioles. Nice plant.

Last year (2nd yr) pic below. Had a nice leap this year and last.

HH how big is that plant? Notice that yours doesn't have the same leaf shape as Paul's.

I love the pic of Paul's Blueberry Muffin. I need it and hopefully I will have it when I return from Cahoon's Nursery tomorrow. Only supposed to get 14" x 36", small right? WW

Mine is still unfurling and slowly gaining its blue color. Here's a picture of mine from last year along with some friends.

Here's mine, starting it's third year. It had 7 leaves on it when I bought it in May 2011. I set it back by moving it a couple of times.

Steve, I just measured and it is 14"high and spread of 24". Why? Are you thinking it is not Blueberry Muffin? I think it looks just like everyone else's pics here. Anyway, just was surprised it put on that much size when it was just planted last year. It wasn't in the best condition when I purchased, but it came up with 10 eyes so I think it had just spend all summer in a nursery in some sun.

14 x 24 is about right. When you commented on size I thought you were talking about a large sized Hosta. Blueberry Muffin is a small. You were commenting on its vigor. That makes sense.

    Steve-

Why do you think it is small? Naylor lists it as a medium. The name tag in the pot calls it medium too. The data base at the HL says 24" high, altho there is "small" listed in the size place. Must be an error. I got mine as a bonus from Hallson's last year and its leaves are already larger than my established Junes. Do you have one that small?

Yeah, mine is a small plant. And it's listed that way in the database linked off the Library. Not the descriptions. Those are taken from sales catalogs and are unreliable.

I see Chris lists it as 14 x 36. That's about right, as far as I can tell.

Losing a bit of its blue, but still a nice contrast to the blossoms.

Just took pics of every one of my hosta to document what they look like this year after another season's growth. My BM is totally green now and done blooming. Wish the blue ones could stay blue all season long.
