I'm building a deep water culture system with a 526 gph pump and a plastic gutter about 3 or 4 inches wide. The problem is that when I turn the pump on, the water starts flowing way too fast, but not wide or deep enough. (It goes left and right along the gutter, but I think that is because I had it slanted, but the flow is about 3-5 milimeters deep- Way too shallow.) The speed problem can be "solved" because my pump has adjustable flow, but it still isnt deep enough. I think if I can get it deeper it should also cancel out the wideness problem. Is there any sort of device that can spread the flow so that it is slower but deeper? Or anything to help me out here? Do I just need a bigger pump? (My current pump is ViaAqua 526gph submersible pump, product number VA306)
