how do you keep glass shower doors clean?

I find it very hard to clean my glass shower door... and I go to hotels where they they dry clean... do they use a special cleaner?

My husband and I had glass shower doors in our last house. When we moved in the builder rep. strongly suggested to us that we "squeegee" the shower doors to keep them clean. After living there for several years, and religiously sqeegeeing after every shower, our doors stayed clean.

We had a cleaning lady in to clean one day, and she asked us how we kept of shower doors so clean. We were confused by the question, so we asked her what she meant by it. She told us that the other houses in the neighborhood that she cleans for, all have glass shower doors, but they are always dirty and mildewy when she gets there.

This was confirmation to us that we were given really good advice by the builder many years ago.

You can buy a squeegee anywhere (Target, Home Depot, etc...). It works.

I use a squeegee after each shower. The other item I find is wonderful for getting rid of soap scum is to use a Mr. Clean magic eraser every week or so.

Yes! A squeegee after every shower, Mr. Clean magic eraser for the stubborn stuff, and Glass Wax to make the whole job easier!!!

Equal parts of warmed white vinegar and blue Dawn dishwashing liquid is a great solution for those doors already streaked with soap scum. Mix into a spray bottle and spray the doors. After a minute or too, wipe with a sponge, rinse and dry. It works for cleaning the tub, too.

Consider installing a water softening system if you have hard water in your city.

I too have glass shower doors and the ONLY Thing that I have used is 2/3 vinegar, 1/3 water and about a tsp. of Dawn. Spray on and then wipe off...amazing!

I forgot...if its realllly bad you might want to use one of those magic sponges...you know the one with the bald headed guy on the package:)

When we first moved into our house 28 years ago I used Johnson's paste wax on my shower walls and antiqued brass & plastic shower door. Religiously squeegeing of the shower and door with a quick drying of the metal has left us with a shower that still looks brand new! Cleaned houses before the time of Mr Clean Erasers. We used viinigar and water to clean the glass then Glass Wax to seal the glass and trim. Gave each client a squeegee for a quick swipe and showers stayed clean. Note: do NOT was the shower floor.
