Nice bright iris. I have Joyce Terry, rather similar to Highliter, huge bright flower that I can see across the yard. Trumpet call looks just as lovely. Your honeysuckle is pretty. The only honeysuckle I have is the wild stuff that I'm constantly fighting to keep out of the flower beds. I think birds seem to feel it belongs there. I've thought about trying the red variety, but fear it might be as bad as the wild stuff. I do love the scent of honeysuckle in bloom though.

Nancy- If you would like to try a very pretty form of honeysuckle that the hummingbirds just love and is very well behaved and never invasive try any of the trumpet honeysuckles. I am pretty sure your wild form would be a Japanese honeysuckle and the birds eat seeds and poop them all over plus it just runs rampant.

Trumpet refers to the shape of the flowers looking like elongated trumpets. They have no scent but are very pretty. The red above is 'Blanch Sandman' but there are many others. The best red trumpet is 'Major Wheeler'. The yellow honeysuckle pictured is 'John Clayton'.

Trumpet Call was a bonus iris from Schreiners two years ago. Now I can't remember if Highliter was a bonus iris or I bought it. Of the two I like Trumpet call much better. But the yellows do tend to get my attention from accross the garden.

I meant to ask you what variety the yellow columbine is. I have yellow columbine, & was thinking it was the same variety you have, but the spurs on yours are longer. I love the long spurs.

The columbine is Swallowtail from High Country Gardens, one of their exclusive introductions. I had it years ago but lost it in my garden redos. So last year I bought it again and planted it there in the small square of Tower Square Garden. Yes, it has very long spurs. I think it's beautiful.

My columbine was Chrysantha, that explains it why the spurs look so much longer. It is very beautiful.
