No, you cannot! Lilies never go completely dormant like other bulbs. It is OK to store them for a week or two in a wet peat moss. Plant them ASAP.

Thanks Alina ! I thought so. It says I have to plant them 6 inches deep. Can I go a bit less say 3-4 inches ? Does it matter ? Sorry ...I 'm a rookie. : )

It depends on the size of bulbs. If your bulbs are small, 3-4" of settled soil over the tops of the bulbs is enough. For larger bulbs - 4-6". Unless your Lilies are Madonna Lilies (L. candidum). These must have no more than one inch. Lilies have "muscles" in their roots, they can pull themselves down later, so more shallow planting is not a big deal. If your Lilies will grow tall this year, shallow planting might make them flip though. Be sure to provide them with excellent drainage. Good luck!
