True lilies (lilium) grow from a stalk that carries leaves all up the stalk (or in whorls around the stalk) and the blooms are located at the top of the stalk. But maybe you have crinums? These have strap-like leaves not unlike amaryllis. There is one commonly known as "Milk and Wine lily". Use google image search for pics. Not a true lily though.

Are they white on the inside and white with the pink stripes on the outside? Maybe trumpet lily Regale... but mine point straight out not hang down... A pic would probably help if you can't find it using google image search.

I googled until my eyes hurt. They look very much like your Regale, but they are not white on the inside, the pinkish red stripes are visible from both sides of the petals. They do grow up from amarylis-like leaves, one huge stalk in the center and average 10 stems that cascade down to these lovely striped trumpets. The stamens? (legs inside the petals) are also pink. I'm going to try to post a pic, because not knowing is driving me as crazy as googling all those pics did. Thank you for any help.

Maybe it is one of the natural red/white candy striped amaryllis (hippeastrum) ?

Whereas the dutch hybrids you buy in stores have open (flat) faced flowers, the seedlings (natural hybrids) tend to be red/white candy striped and typically with a trumpet shape. Typically 4-6 flowers per scape.

pardalinum, after checking out that picture on the link, I believe you are correct. That is exactly what they look like. They are beautiful and I feel fortunate to have gotten some for my garden. So they are not truly a lily, they are a crinum called Milk and Wine lily?!! That's a little confusing, but oh well. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me identify them. Now I'll have some nice ones for heirloom plants. Thank you all for your help!
