I think it all depends on growing conditions. One year might have perfect weather for growing peas, while the next might be too hot, too wet, too dry, etc. I was happy to have just a few tastes of shelling peas this season after squirrels destroyed the majority of my seedlings. Oh well, let's hope for a better crop of peas next year! :-)

Did you plant them in the same place as last time, or a new place? You may need to re-inoculate them next year to get better production. Or your soil needs some organic fertilizer prior to planting. Or both.

And, as ispahan said, some years are better for growing. Some years are better for cussing. We're having our second cussing year in a row here in western Washington State.
