Growing under Lights

Tomato suckers

Using 275 watt hid. I keep the light just 24" from grow unit so I tie the branches down. I let just enough suckers develop to have eight branches (any more is unmanageable). I realize that alot of people remove all suckers so that there is only the main branch but they are not using artificial lighting. I wonder about doing that in my system since the main branch is always the most prolific. Would it be even more efficient if I just wind the main branch around the grow area? Sure would be less work not having all those branches to retie all the time.

what i do is grow my vines under chicken wire. i suspend chicken wire about 8 inchess off my soil level, this forces the plant to grow horizontally, maximizing my footprint. as the plant grows up through the wire, just pull it under and "train" it so it fills out the chicken wire.

im experimenting with 2 screens now. i will "sandwich" the plant in between 2 screens, 1 keeps it growing horizontally and the other nderneath supports developing fruits.

Indoors I grow smaller/dwarf heirloom varieties of tom's...I like to grow other vegies as well so doing a full size indoors isn't practical, at least for me. My "lucky
Leprachaun" is about 1' tall and is already producing loads of flowers....I'll have an aboundance of toms in a small space.....
Happy Growing
