In Napa County we had 15 last year and will try for the same this year. However there is consideration of going to 10. We want to keep one unit in our county and make sure everyone is acquainted with everyone else. We have 118 members now.

In Smith County we have between 20 - 25 every year.

We usually share the class space with a neighboring county, half the classes are held in each county. Usually it's 15 students per county. Our training sessions are usually once each year starting in September, ending in December. We have approximately 80 active Master Gardeners in our county.

We also shared the classes with a neighboring county. They had 19 members and we had 10, for a total of 29. The classes were held once a week starting in September and ending in December. (I was at my MG class on 9/11. They interrupted the class to tell us to go home because there was a terrorist attack on the WTC!)

Unfortunately we only had 4 in our class last March with a neighboring county but the previous yr. was over 20.

Since we also have the classes in the larger, neighboring county it's once a year in Jan. Believe enrollment is limited to 50. Most years they get that. Only a handful from neighboring counties in any year.

I live in Wayne County, Mi. We have two sessions a year. The session that starts in January holds only 50-55 students. Our fall class has held as many as 150 students, but it is usually closer to 100 or so. They all meet weekly for 13 weeks.

My County has been sharing with another county due to renovations to buildings in both locations. Classes in all county locations are limited to about 50 people, with some being turned away, from what I understand. Program runs January to April for classroom, a full day for each topic, one day per week every week. Then the volunteer outreach and office hours during the summer for a total of 60 hours. I was surprised to see someone mention a three-hour class on another thread.

We join with 4 other counties, and have roughly 40 attendees, 9 of which come from our county. The training is offered once a year, Sept thru Dec. We meet weekly, with a morning & afternoon session. Each session presents a new topic. I've been surprised by the sparodic attendence. It's not unusual to have at least three people missing. No interview or prequalification (essay) was required.

Our county only has one class a year.
Usually runs from August/November, 13 weeks.

I live in a large county and there averages 100+ applicants each year.
Only about 20-22 per year are selected.
Took me the third try to get accepted.

We have a very strict class attendance, homework, testing scores, and intern volunteer hours criteria.
After the intern hours, our volunteer hours are more lax.

(Blueheron, I was on the way to my MG class when I heard of the 911 attack over the radio.
As our MG Coordinator secretary's sister worked in one of the towers, class was dismissed.
Thankfully, she was on the way to work and had not quite gotten to the tower.)
