Liberty needs a good 3 years to become a large showy plant. It will take quite a bit of sun so definately dont bury it in shade.

I'm moving my Liberty into the sun for the same reason. Yellow margins. I am also having this problem with First Frost. The beautiful blue with the white frosted margin never materializes with my First Frosts. They stay yellow-margined all year long. Pretty, but not what I'd expected; however, they are in dappled shade all day.

Have one growing in shade since 07 and one in sunnier location planted last year so both young - big difference - color, growth rate, habit all improved with sun(this is after only 1 year). Both are well watered. If you have a spot with more sun (please note- I'm zone 4) you will notice the difference. I figured I would use sunny spot to grow it faster and then move at some point - I can't imagine moving it after seeing result. Instead I need to move the older plant somewhere with more sun.

Last year mine looked like Sagae, this year the width of the margins has doubled. Your patience will definitely be rewarded.

Thanks all, I will move it to an area with more sun. And believe me, I know to water! Now, for the third thing, I need to work on being more patient. ; )
