Tremendous down here in Somerset County. I'm harvesting sweet fryers from the peppers already and my tomatoes are loaded with fruit. Lettuce was great and I just seeded my 3rd crop of Basil tonight. Only thing that could be better is a touch more rain.

There's a solitary doe that comes into my yard and is totally undeterred by either Deer Solution (supposed to work 100 days; I've found it doesn't even work overnight) or apparently Deer Stopper. Today I went back to the granular deterrent in an attempt to save the last of the special day lily buds - this is the first time in 3 years that I've lost day lilies to a deer. I also had to put wire fencing on the ground around the tomato garden in an attempt to keep her out of there.

That's another interesting thing. I had some fencing, so I put it down around one grape vine. The unprotected one doesn't see any deer damage either. (Japanese Beetles are another story)

My neighbor saw a few deer in my yard the other night looking things over, but I've only detected minimal bites on my (still protected) vines in training. At this point I'm just training them in the upwards direction so I have them enclosed with a fence, but a few branches were sticking out.

Me, too - the leaves of Queen of the Prairie are nothing but netting. And speaking of netting, the 4 legged beast pushed down the netting around the gray dogwood and elderberry and nibbled on those a couple of nights ago. Thankfully, it didn't eat the berries on the dogwood as this is the first year it has flowered.
