My DH spoke with a vendor about a sprinkler system for our front yard only (about 70 ft x 40 ft). The vendor verbally quoted $1700 and said he would be back later in the summer to do the work. We agreed.

Last week, the vendor calls DH's cell phone to say he was by our home and wanted to start the job, but he evaluated our water pressure and it was not high enough. After adjustments, he tells hubby that the price is $3800!!! I told DH to let them know that they could take a hike; we agreed (verbally) to $1700.

Bottom Line: What is an average cost for this type of work? I'm clueless, but would rather push a manual sprinkler around and spend the $3800 towards a new and expanded driveway.
