bamboo and cedar

I want to plant bamboo in a container on the patio. Is there a specific kind that is more suitable for it than an other?

Also, we have about ten square feet of cedar chips (chips of the whole tree, not just bark). Can that be used as mulch? If so, in perennial beds or only where you don't want anything else to grow?

Cedar play chips get put around just about everything I plant on Camano Island.

Fargesia bamboos make tight clumps of numerous slender stems, and are hardy enough to be overwintered in tubs outdoors without damage.

When I get a load of Cedar chips I cheer and use it anywhere.

Yup! She's in there somewhere. She rarely goes outside. When she does, she's headed for the car to go shopping. ;-)
