How deep are the built-in cabinets and the ledge above them?

I like the depth of the cabinets/ledge in that it's deeper than the width of a standard wall but not as deep as a normal 24" kitchen base cabinet. However, our space is sort of limited so I'm trying to visualize our options.

Hello,
These higher cabinets serve the dining room and are 16 1/2 inches deep.

Is there a kitchen table in addition to the dining room table? wondering if it is weird to have an open wall to the dining room when there is a table in the kitchen as well
