Ours is about to burst into bloom- spectacular when it does.

Of the common ones I'm seeing walking for exercise at this time this is shaping up to be the most appealing.

One of us is trying to shape up and the other already has.

They really are pretty at this time of year, aren't they? There is one in full, glorious bloom about two gardens down from my morning bus stop. It's backed with a view of Puget Sound and Vashon Island and looks really nice this week.

Akebono is almost my favorite for the flower.

And Mt. Fuji for form.

I liked the way that the cherry blossom was incorporated into the movie (The?) Last Samurai

Note that the cultivar name of the Mount Fuji cherry is 'Shirotae' and not 'Mt Fuji'. Cascade Snow = 'Berry' is another pretty white one, those seen today at Sky nursery (Seattle) having a delightful fluttering appearance in flower. (Cascade Snow = 'Berry' named by an Oregon nursery after a tree imported from Japan and planted in the Berry garden, Portland. Original Japanese cultivar name may be 'Shirayuki').

There are also some of the exotic-looking Taiwan cherry flowering right next to them; today I saw a male Anna's hummingbird come to one of them, just as the sun was shining on both the bird and the cherry. Wow!
