lily sprout dilemma

I bought asiatic lily bulbs yesterday that were already sprouting in curved arcs which I assume was from being cramped inside the package. So here's my dilemma: do I plant them (A# with the bulb right side up but with a stem that is parallel to the ground? or #B) with the bulb on its side so that the stem emerges upright from the ground?

Whatever you do -- don't break that stem as you won't have a bloom this year if you do.

Lilies have contracting roots that pull the bulb down & the stem grows up, so will bloom fine this year then by next year will be proper depth with a straight stem.
