What's the plant in the second to last photo: looks kind of like a heath with pinkish buds???

That's a Grevillea species. Some species will bloom all winter, and some even all year. There are at least a couple that are pretty darn reliable in our area, one being Grevillea victoriae. That one has larger leaves and larger blossoms. You might also be able to find it at some of the local nurseries.

Just being curious could you give a reading of the low temps of the next couple of nights? Are these average low temps?

Looks like Bremerton stays relatively mild compared to those of us near the Cascades Mountains! Lucky you!

Does that acacia smell fabulous? those that I've been close to in Arizona all did and so do the cut ones you can buy at the flower market.

His part of Bremerton is right at the beach. Down the river a comparatively short distance from Snohomish, near the Everett waterfront it would also be expected to be markedly milder than back where you can't see salt water.

If you look at a map Snohomish is quite near Everett as far as it goes. That is why it is in USDA 8. Even within Snohomish or vicinity valley floor locations will get cold air sitting around them that actually produce lower readings than sites farther into town (hence the 14 degrees F. reported from south of town during a recent winter), up on hillsides where although of higher altitude do not have pools of stagnant air sitting around them.
