I have a Blue Crown Passion Vine that dropped all it's leaves this last winter (never has before) and looks quite dead. I am holding out hope that it regrows from the base and I've got the first little inkling with what seems to be a tiny upshoot from a different place in the ground very close to the original plant.

My question is: can I cut away all the dead vine now? It is on a nice wrought iron trellis, but covered in dead growth and would love to have it all clean and ready, but not at the expense of the plant if it will hurt it coming back?
